Youth Appreciation Ceremony
The Youth Appreciation Ceremony (YAC) is an annual celebration by Project Stand Up (PSU) that recognizes and honors the remarkable contributions of refugee and local youth who are creating positive change within their communities.
In 2024, PSU brought together 80 young people from diverse refugee communities across the Klang Valley for a day of reflection, learning, and connection. The ceremony offered a warm, inclusive space where youth could share their journeys, celebrate one another’s achievements, and explore what it means to lead with purpose.
Through interactive discussions and creative activities, participants explored themes of leadership, resilience, and collaboration. A Youth Activism Panel encouraged them to think boldly about their role in shaping the future offering practical steps to turn ideas into community action.
A key highlight of the event was the recognition of seven Youth Champions, honored for their outstanding leadership and service to their communities. Their achievements reflected PSU’s spirit of youth empowering youth a collective effort to build stronger, more connected, and compassionate communities.
The Youth Appreciation Ceremony continues to grow as a platform that amplifies youth voices and celebrates their power to lead. Each year, it strengthens connections between refugee and local youth while inspiring new waves of leadership and creativity.
As we look ahead to the 2025 Youth Appreciation Ceremony, PSU is excited to bring even more voices, stories, and ideas together. Stay tuned for updates on how you can be part of the next celebration where we continue to honor young changemakers and reimagine what leadership looks like in our communities.
